As someone who moved to MN from a much more southern state, it surprised me how often Minnesotans talked about "going up north". Up north??? How much more "up north" can you go?! (Yes, I realize there's a whole wonderful country to our north but coming from KY, I feel pretty much like we're already at the North Pole.)
Well, this coming weekend, Mark and I will be going "up north" a trip we have often taken in the summer but never in the winter. We'll spend two nights on the shore of Lake Superior, happily snuggled up in a warm room with a fireplace and whirlpool. We'll look out at the frozen shoreline of the lake, drink coffee, read our newly-purchased books, and reconnect. Here's where we're heading.
I hope to get back to posting here - I feel the memory cells drifting away
Larsmont should be nice and cozy this weekend. Be sure to explore the village of Knife River, with some nice shops (candy, yarn, Norwegian jewelry...). The lakewatching at Stoney Point can be awesome too!
Enjoy!
